| March 25, 2021. Dear Robert, Thanks to our dedicated professionals and
volunteers, we have hit a new 24-hour record for the number of vaccine doses
administered—202,123—and we are administering more than a million doses every
week. As we continue our outreach in the hard-hit communities to address the
social and racial disparities statewide, we all must continue to take safety
precautions since the virus is still a risk. I urge eligible New Yorkers to
register for the vaccine. If we sustain this comprehensive offense, we will
defeat COVID—and we will be the better for it. Image of the day: Enroll
in NY's free Citizen Public Health Training Program and arm yourself with
knowledge: ny.gov/citizenpublichealth Here's what else you need to know
tonight: 1. COVID hospitalizations dropped to 4,600. Of the 268,276 tests
reported yesterday, 8,081, or 3.01 percent, were positive. The 7-day average
percent positivity is 3.37 percent. There were 931 patients in ICU yesterday,
up 13 from the previous day. Of them, 583 are intubated. Sadly, we lost 45 New
Yorkers to the virus. 2. As of 11am this morning, 27.5 percent of New
Yorkers have completed at least one vaccine dose. Over the past 24 hours,
202,123 total doses have been administered. To date, New York administered
8,231,872 total doses with 14.6 percent of New Yorkers completing their vaccine
series. See data by region and county on the State's Vaccine Tracker:
ny.gov/vaccinetracker. 3. Fourteen community-based pop-up vaccination sites
are coming online over the next week. These sites at houses of worship,
community centers and local businesses are expected to vaccinate more than
4,200 people throughout this week. Since January 15, more than 160
community-based pop-up sites administered more than 62,500 first doses of the
COVID-19 vaccine. 4. To date, New York has conducted over 43 million tests.
New York continues to lead in testing and in less than a week we've conducted
one million tests. Getting tested for COVID regularly is a smart way to ensure
you stay in good health. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID or believe
you may have been exposed to the virus, get tested. Find a testing site near
you. You can also call 1-888-364-3065 to make a free appointment at a New York
State-run testing location. Tonight's "Deep Breath Moment": A Southwest
Airlines employee went to "infinity and beyond" to reunite a young boy and his
favorite toy. Two-year-old Hagen accidentally left his beloved Buzz Lightyear
toy on a Southwest plane in Dallas, TX, but by the time Hagen and his family
realized, the plane was already in another state. Southwest Airlines agent
Jason found the action figure and was able to send Buzz back home to Hagen.
