Subject: Patient's rights and StateWide
StateWide is refocusing on patient rights and specifically on improving
transparency in hospitals. A working group is reviewing the existing
situation in hospitals state wide and determining what legislative and
regulatory changes are needed.
To facilitate this effort the working group is trying to develop a "
clearing house " consisting of stories in which hospitals were not
transparent. If you or people you know had experienced a lack of transparency
such as meetings refused, medical reviews denied, or inadequate exist
interviews StateWide would like to hear these stories. The stories could be of
simple lack of transparency and/or more seriously efforts to conceal mistakes.
The people need not identify themselves for the record. It goes without saying
if the story is a current problem statewide would want to hear of it and aid in
it's resolution. Whatever the case if you have such stories of the past or
present please call the StateWide hotline at 1-800-333-4374. Any assistance
would be appreciated.
