Of course, that expulsion was one of the acts that led up to secession. I
wonder whether the expulsions were majority or 2/3 votes. The other side of
the coin is that seditious acts are grounds for expulsion. Most of the
Senators and members of Congress resigned in a rather more gentlemanly way
after secession votes from their states.
As the new Congress is sworn in as of January 1, they would have to be expelled
rather than not being seated. I wonder how these objectors see their acts as
congruent with their oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United
States. Even McConnell is supporting certification of the electoral vote.
