HR 1 is necessary because the Republicans are subverting the Constitution by
interfering with the right to vote. I am staying on topic.

You are confusing the Constitution with laws which are supposed to reflect the
Constitution. The Constitution says they have the right to vote.
Gerrymandered legislatures are subverting citizens' right to vote in many
states. C'mon, Bob. I know you follow the news in addition to the Post so you
should be aware of this. Trump has said that if these efforts of voter
suppression do not succeed, the Republicans will never win another election.
EricPS, HR 1 is an attempt to codify what should not need to be codified. From:

The franchise is the RIGHT TO VOTE. Making it more difficult is supposed to be
unconstitutional and is discriminatory. Eric

I guess disenfranchising people who are likely to vote against you across the
nation is a non-crisis. Eric

sputtering to a halt
Power-hungry Dems are stirring hysteria over Texas' sane election reforms

Once again a solution looking for a problem that is not here.
"H.R. 1 (S. 1 in the Senate), which is known as a voting bill but wanders into
all sorts of other areas, is objectively terrible legislation.
It is unfocused, high-handed in its impositions on the states, careless of
speech rights and constitutionally dubious. Absent some radical turnabout, the
bill is dead in the Senate, and it deserves to be."Bob
