This is personal because of my history in UUP.
As one who has run for office in my union and been disenfranchised from further
higher level campaigns for being retired, I stand behind his right to run.
I hope he is soundly defeated at the primary level. I am a Democrat and, just
as I believe in people's right to vote, I stand behind their right to run for
office, no matter how repugnant their politics. It's something called First
Amendment Freedom.
The fact that the county Republicans let him run as a Republican does not stop
others from also running as Republicans against him. It simply means that
Republicans willing to risk a probable loss appear to be thin on the ground.
Apparently, there is no indication that he involved himself directly in any
violent behavior or engaged in criminal acts.
His acceptance of propaganda about antifa and election theft is a common
Republican delusion. If we ruled out all Republicans who believe these things,
public office would look very different. For that matter the same would apply
to some Democrats.
Except in cases where organizations like the Electoral College get into the
act, the people tend to get the government they think they want.
