Jassa opened her eyes after a light doze to find herself still securely in Vincent's arms. She gave a luxurious stretch but she did so carefully, not wanting to wake him. She smiled a slow, sweet smile before she brushed some strands of gray from his forehead and kissed his cheek. "Wonderful man," she whispered as she got up slowly. She headed for the sonic shower, amazed that she didn't just float across the floor. He'd made her feel so good, feel so loved and special. She gave herself a hug from the sheer joy she felt as she finished getting dressed. Glancing at the still soundly sleeping Vincent, she silently begged 'please be here when I get back' before making a duplicate of Nan's PADD to work on while she was on duty. ~~~~~~~ Nan looked up as the doors to the transporter control area opened. Jassa, as usual, was on time but the change in her demeanor--her body language, the expression on her face--made it hard to believe she was the same woman who'd left four hours before. "Afternoon, Chief," Jassa said brightly. "Quiet tour?" "Thankfully," Nan replied cautiously. He waited, watching with his arms crossed over his chest, until Jassa was logged on, to satisfy his curiosity. "You're awfully cheerful, Jassa. Quite the changed woman from the one who left here before. Figured out something on those shields, did you?" "Not yet but I did get Sergeant Major Aigremont to take a look at the information. A forensic approach might work along with ours," Jassa explained as she sat at the console. It was hard to keep the smile off her face, though. "I see," Nan began. Leaning an elbow on the console, he asked, "Where exactly did you find the good sergeant major? Lieutenant McKay said he's been sleeping in the Science Lab because his wife locked him out. She told him to ask Ops for temp quarters until he gets his own back." "I found him in Ten Forward but he's..ummm...fast asleep in my quarters if the lieutenant is looking for him," Jassa replied , her eyes carefully looking down at the work surface as a flush crawled up her face. Nan found himself speechless for a moment as he realized exactly what his assistant wasn't saying. His eyebrows fairly disappeared beneath his snow white bangs. The whole thing was none of his business but there was something he had to say. "Listen, Jassa. This isn't Chief Ecitsuj talking. It's Nan. The sergeant major's wife is a bit harsh, to put it mildly," he said, no hint of his usual good humor evident. "I know, sir, but...he's a very fine man," Jassa said quietly. Dark blue eyes looked up into Nan's black ones. "I appreciate your concern, Chief, and don't worry--this won't effect my work. I promise." "I'm not worried about that at all, Jassa. I trust your work and I know Lieutenant McKay trusts the sergeant major's. It's just that I've had personal experience with Mrs. Aigremont," Nan explained, his mouth thinning in recalled annoyance with Elspeth. She didn't ask for his opinion about her relationship with a married man and he was definitely not going to offer it unasked. "The sergeant major and I have had occasion to disagree before but he's not a bad person at all. Be happy, Jassa, but be careful." ~~~~~~~ Even when the headache started a few hours later, Jassa was still happy. She wasn't hungry but she got herself a cup of herbal tea on her break and allowed herself a moment to daydream. Hangover from the cognac or not, she could still feel her skin tingling where Vincent had caressed and kissed her. He's so romantic, so passionate. I don't think I've ever felt so special...please be there when I come home... ~~~~~~~ Any number of engineers and officers might pass through the area during an average tour but one did not usually see folks in medical uniforms, especially not that man. As soon as she saw the dark haired man heading her way, Jassa gasped out loud and covered her mouth in shock. "Dr. Kaartaren! Oh, I missed the appointment I made with you. I'm so sorry," she said as he approached. Pas smiled and shook his head. "Actually, I came here to apologize to you, Jassa. I'm afraid I wasn't feeling well before and I overslept from a nap. Now--that's my excuse. What's yours?" "I...well, I got distracted," Jassa said simply, the smile reappearing on her face as she thought about her distraction. "But you're feeling better, right?" Like Nan, Pas couldn't help but feel the change in attitude from the woman he'd spoken to when she made the appointment. He sensed a sweet personality in her, an intelligent, strong woman who would probably never cause intentional harm. He shook his head. "No, I'm fine. I just had a little family business to attend to." Jassa grinned at him. "I'm glad to hear that, sir. Can I congratulate you? I heard you and Ensign DeAngelo are expecting." "You certainly may, Jassa, and thank you. It's a great and wonderful blessing," Pas replied, feeling her genuinely happy response. He rested an elbow on the console and asked, "So, can I ask what's on your mind? You seem quite the changed lady from when we spoke on the comm." Jassa propped her chin up on her hand. "Do you think there's anything wrong with having a relationship with an older man?" "If you're looking for my personal disapproval on that aspect of any healthy relationship, you aren't going to find it. I'm twenty years older than Calista," Pas explained. His dark eyes regarded the young Trill woman speculatively. "I'm going to take it this isn't in reference to the gentleman who caused you to call me in the first place." "Torias Tel is no gentleman," Jassa grumbled. Vincent is. But it made her think about what Nan said, about Elspeth. "And if the person who caused my, ah, change in demeanor happened to be married?" Pas blew out a breath. "It isn't my place to approve or disapprove of your relationships, Jassa, nor am I going to impose my personal beliefs on you. It's between you and the people in question. And I do mean people since there's more than just you and whoever your distraction is." I'm sorry for that, I'm sorry for many things that she has done. Jassa sighed. She had no doubt but that Vincent meant everything he'd said to her but she also had no doubt that his wife wasn't going to make his life any easier. That poor man... "I know, Doctor, but I'm sure it will work out," Jassa said calmly. "I certainly hope so," Pas said simply. He patted her hand. "Jassa, I need to see to some other things right now but you know my door's always open. Don't be a stranger." "I won't, sir, and thank you." ~~~~~~~ The lights were dimmed in her quarters when she got back after her shift. She stepped inside quietly, not knowing whether he was still there or, if he was, whether he was awake or not. "Vincent?"
