DAYS PASS (Maybe a week) The Hobus Star has erupted once more since Spock's warning and dogged scientists around the galaxy have used the chance for further observations. Their conclusions are grim. Amabassador Spock is correct, the Hobus Star seems in the beginning of an exponential supernova cycle. Most find the news too unbelievable, it is unbelievable that a single star could threaten the whole galaxy. The Romulan Senate, though, with undisputable confirmation now, issues two orders: First, a planetary evacuation, including a planetary distress signal to any and all who can help. (as perhaps an indication of their desperation, they specifically authorize passage through the Neutral Zone). Planets and colonies nearby follow suit (Remus, for example). Second, a secret order to use all means necessary to obtain the Vulcan process for creating the so-called red matter, including an outright full-scale attack. Unfortunately, panic ensues in the Empire with communication and transporation systems quickly overwhelmed by billions of residents and visitors on or near Romulus seeking escape. Shortly after the planetary distress signal all communication with Romulus and nearby space from long distance is effectively shutdown. The military maintains the few working communication channels. The Federation President authorizes the largest rescue mobilization in the history of the Federation, not just for the Romulan Star Empire but for anyone caught in the potential ring of death from Hobus. --
