Speak Thou Thy Fears
Talibah t'Ghaladriel
Curled up on Vincent's bed, Talibah hugged her knees to her chest. Her
e'lev was in the shower, she could hear the musical tinkle of the water
droplets hitting his skin. If she hadn't been so distracted, she'd
have joined him but she couldn't get Joseph and Tabetha out of her
mind. They were so lost, she couldn't even imagine how they were going
to get home again.
Her frustration made her weak and depressed. There was nothing she
could do, no power she held over Starfleet or the Universe that would
make her children come home quicker. In fact, she had no way to help
them. Even going to DSVP was a foolish way to make herself feel
better. But that was all it was. She knew, deep down, that she would
be just as powerless there as she was on Earth. There was nothing...
Something tickled at her memory and she leaned over the edge of the bed
to retrieve a small purse from her skirt pocket. Inside was a piece of
parchment that was rolled so tightly, it looked like a solid cylinder.
It had been given to her long ago and she'd almost forgotten it was
there. Carrying the little purse had become second nature, she no
longer thought about it.
Unrolling the scroll, she smiled at the words written on it. Kinaen
of the hru'Airifvir, it said. Speak thou thy fears.
Speak thou thy fears. It was a lifeline. Scuttling over to
Vincent's comm-unit, she typed in the code written on the parchment and
was presented with a blank screen. She said, "Kinaen of the
hru'Airifvir. My son and daughter's ship is missing. It's called the
USS Banshee and it disappeared over a month ago. Please, I want them
back. Help me, please." Then she closed the connection and returned
to her place on the bed.
