Failing Incompetence
Nicole had feelings of incompetence running through her body as she looked
around sickbay. She and the nurses were working like crazy to take care of all
the injured that were flooding into sickbay do to the fight with the
crystalline ships.
So many had died already and so many were still to die, due to this battle.
There were some that were beyond medical and some that were nearing that point,
even though Nicole knew all this, she felt completely inadequate to do
anything. She wished that Will was there, barking orders and taking charge,
but he wasn?t, the weight of sickbay was resting on her shoulders at that
moment and Nicole didn?t think she had ever been more scared in her life.
Her brain felt fuzzy and devoid of any knowledge, her hands felt shaking and
unsure and her knees felt like they were going to give out on her at any
moment. But even with all these thoughts and deep fears running through her
mind, Nicole pushed forward, past her own despair and worked harder on each
patient. Taking the time needed with each patient and trying not to let her
mind drift to other things.
There was so much to be done, so many people, so many deaths. Nicole sent up a
silent prayer to whom or what ever might be out there listening, that the fight
would end soon and for the lives of all the people involved.
