[USS Athena] "Elder Base - Starzem Approach"

A low beep sounded from the tactical console.  Arrain Zerliak glanced down to see what the alert was for.  A Starzen patrol ship had entered the area and were just passing by.  Zerliak watched carefully for any sign the ship knew they were there.  He thought about signaling Erei'Riov Ronov, but thought better of it.  The Starzen just might detect the comm signal.  Plus there would be no need to push the panic button, if they were just passing by.

"I am watching a Starzen patrol ship," Zerliak told Dhivael.  He knew she would be watching the sensor readings on the planet.

Suddenly, Zerliak noted the direct turn from the Starzen patrol ship.  They had turned towards the system.

"Something has caught their attention," Zerliak said aloud.  "Let me know if you see any changes from the surface.  We will have to warn them if they should start to ascend."

Zerliak continued to watch the Starzen ship.  It stopped just before entering the system.  It sat there, sensors trained forward.  Zerliak wondered if they needed permission from their control to enter the forbidden areas.  He decided to take a chance and send a quick, tight-beam message to the Rhiatia, warming them of the Starzen threat.
