Hi All,
Meet Roberto Santiago of New Jersey. He has weathered the Hadley chess courses
and might be talked into a chess game or two. He and I were to play our
ceremonial graduation game today, but I had to go visit the doctor to try to
deal with some very persistent poison ivy. I’m tempted to recount the words of
the old coasters song—or was it The Platters—no matter; I’ll spare you. This
time.
Introductions: Roberto, Jim H is our President, Evan Reese is our VP, Renee is
our Secretary, Alan is our Rebel Without a Cause! He is our Treasurer, but we
aren’t charging membership dues just now. Chris is our Tournament Director. He
handles all things correspondence, including the Ladder Tournament. That might
be one good place for you to start. Chris can fill you in on all the details.
Curtis handles our skype, AKA realtime, tournaments. We might need to send
somebody down to Florida to wake him up. I don’t think I’ve seen a post about
any upcoming USBCA tournaments recently. The people listed in the CC line are
our four most recent Hadley grads. Elizabeth and Kade, egk and rjn
respectively, took the courses for high school credit. They’re from Texas and
California respectively. Dave Schuh and Karel Swanepoel also graduated this
year and have jumped into a good bit of tournament play. Dave is from
Wisconsin, Karel is from the Republic of South Africa. Karel is also waiting
for his ceremonial graduation game. We’ve tried several times to schedule it,
but—one of my favorite sayings—Life’s what happens while you’re busy making
plans! And there are a whole host of people under the usbca_chess umbrella.

Roberto, under separate cover I’ll send you the contact info for some other
lists that you might find interesting.
Wishing you Many Happy Returns! And may at least some of them be over the
chessboard!
All the best,
Jim T
