Closing Skype via the app switcher does close it, but unless you sign out or
change your status in Skype to off-line before you close it, you will still
receive notifications/calls.

Thanks Jim, that is a significant drawback because, like you, currently, I only
launch Skype if I’m expecting a call or need to call someone. Other than that,
I don’t want it bothering me with calls.
Are you saying that you can’t close it with the app switcher? Or that closing
it doesn’t really close it? That would be unfortunate. I do that with the apps
I have now all the time. I presume it works and that the apps are actually
closed. So far as I’ve noticed, they are anyhow.

José Maria is also a good resource for this. I have learned from him that one
possible drawback to using skype on your IPhone is that skype will always
answer, that is, it is always running, on the IPhone. Yesterday, when I was
talking to José on skype, the connection would degrade rather significantly
when he would get a call on his IPhone. He was using his IPhone for the skype
connection, obviously. He also mentioned that, where you can put skype on
invisible on your pc, or, as I do, not even launch skype unless I’m actually
expecting to talk to someone, it is always active on the IPhone. José, if
you’re reading this, you might want to address what happens if you’re on a call
using your IPhone and someone tries to contact you via skype. Or, Charles,
maybe you could address this???
FWIW,

Subject: [usbca_chess] Skype Accessible on iDevices?
Hey Guys,
I seem to recall hearing some time ago that Skype was accessible with VoiceOver
on iDevices, but I want to make sure I’m not deceiving myself with wishful
thinking before I go and try to find it on the app store. I believe some of you
are using it, is that right. I’m pretty sure Jim H is at least if I’m not
mistaken.
I’m getting thoroughly sick of messing around with Skype on my laptop with
Window Eyes and I want to switch if it works better on my iPad Mini 4.
I can still use the spreadsheet to time games on my laptop while having Skype
on my iPad.
Thanks for any feedback on this.
