All,
Apologies for not updating on the
Lichtenberg Sommer
<http://www.friesen-lichtenberg.de/Lichtenberger_Sommer/LS_16/lichtenberger_sommer_2016.htm>
tournament.
In brief, I scored 6/9, built from 4 wins, 4 draws and a single loss, against
an Iranian International Master, who eventually came clear second. Top seed,
Russian Grandmaster Dobrov won outright.
My performance was very good, as I gained ranking points and a bit of extra
cash. I ended up in joint 18th place out of a possible 209 participants.

A nice page which shows and talks about me in the tournament can be seen

Now, I am just about to head off to the
Baku Chess Olympiad <http://www.bakuchessolympiad.com/>
Where I will be representing for the International Braille Chess Association
(IBCA), one of the few teams permitted to play in the Olympiad, which is not
strictly a nation. I will be the official board 4. There are four boards in a
single match and there will be 11 rounds. My squad has a reserve, so I will no
doubt be “rested” on a couple of the rounds.
As this is the Olympiad, the top players from all of the nations will be there.
All current champions and former ones too. The host city is actually the birth
place of Gary Kasparov, who some of you may well have heard of. He will
certainly be there!
Live games will undoubtedly be streamed. On the
<http://www.bakuchessolympiad.com/> official website
there are links to live games, photos, videos and all the team information.
Pairings and results will be updated by the minute.
So, keep an eye out and let’s hope!
Cheers,
Chris
