Greetings All!
At the end of 2018 we not only lost a good friend in chess, but someone who
also loved the game. So in his memory, we are going to start 2019 off with a
special Skype tournament, The US BCA Jeffrey Turner Memorial Real Time Swiss
Tournament!I would like to now extend a personal invitation to you to
participate in the 2019 Jeffrey Turner Memorial Real Time Swiss Tournament!!
The Tournament will begin on March 7, 2019.
The number of rounds in the tournament will depend on how many people enter the
tournament, probably 4 or 5 rounds. Each round will last approximately 2 weeks.
In round 1, participants will be listed alphabetically. Then the list will be
split in half. The top half of the list will play the bottom half of the list.
In the following rounds, players will be grouped depending on the number of
points they have earned, and will play other players with similar number of
points. No two players will play each other twice, so slight modifications
might be required to the groups. Whoever has the most points at the end of the
tournament will be the winner of the tournament!
This is a great way to remember and honor an old friend! It is going to be a
fun and enjoyable tournament with lots of competition, so I would highly
encourage you to sign up!! It is a good way to meet and get to know other
people in the US BCA, while doing one of our favorite past times... playing
chess!
I would hate for you to miss out on such a great event, so to sign up, please
send your request to me as soon as possible, but no later than March 5, 2019.Do
