Hi Jim,
Sorry, but Michael Rodgerson beat you to it.
I hope you can make the upcoming Board meeting next week. We are way behind on
elections and we’re going to have to change the date at which new officers take
over because we don’t have time to elect a new Board before the end of the
year. I really hope you can make it!
Evan

Evan, If no one else claims it, I’ll put in a bid. Primarily, what I want it
for is to examine it, consider whether it can be improved, improve it if such
is indicated, and move it on. The exception to that would be if it should
miraculously happen to be the twin of the firs set I got, many years ago. I
want one of those, issued back in the early 60’s, for nostalgia reasons.
Besides, it was a good set, though not Staunton. I have a fellow in mind who
needs a set. Tim Hill, Hadley grad, lost his set to a house fire. Lost
everything else, too, for that matter. Anyway, I am working to get him a
quality set. The half dozen Hadley sets I have simply must be improved before
I’d give them to anyone!
Best,
Jim T
PS: Good comments—in your previous.--JT

Subject: [usbca_chess] I Have a Chessboard to Give Away
Hey Guys,
I’ve got this board that I never use that I’ll send free to anyone who wants
it.. I’m not getting out of chess. It’s just that I have other boards that I
like better and I never use this one. I don’t remember where I got it or how
long I’ve had it. I’m not sure whether these pieces are Staunton or not. I
think that they might be, but don’t quote me on that.
The main reason I don’t use it is that I prefer smaller pieces. All of the
pieces are here. I set up the board just to be certain. I’m not sure whether
these pieces are wood or plastic. I think they’re wood, but again, don’t quote
me on that. The White pieces have actual metal nails sticking out of them, not
dots, which adds to my belief that the pieces are wooden.
The only other thing I can tell you about it that may give you a clue as to who
made it or where it came from is that the box containing the pieces is
definitely plastic, and has a rough texture. It has a divider down the length
of it separating the pieces into to compartments so they can be stored by color.
I’ll send it to the first person I hear from who sends me their address. I can
probably get it out tomorrow, but if not, it’ll go out next week.
