At our place in Melrose... a GREAT HORNED OWL has been hooting various
times of night and dusk/dawn for several weeks. A couple nights ago I heard
a WESTERN SCREECH-OWL in the middle of the night, which I hadn't heard for
a while. This morning at dawn and this evening at dusk a NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL
WAS tooting away about a quarter mile to the WNW. I love hearing these
night birds. There's something out there alive doing its thing 24 hrs a day.
The benefits of leaving a window open while sleeping.... ... and being a
light sleeper. :-)

P.S. So far I've never had a Northern Saw-whet Owl at our place here in
Melrose.
