At our place on Cleveland Hill Road in Melrose I get a LINCOLN'S SPARROW or
two quite frequently during spring and fall migration, but rarely outside
of that period. Today there was one out in our weedy orchard area, with
about 30 Golden-crowned Sparrows. This is my first January record of
Lincoln's Sparrow at our place.
Last week, not far away on the lower part of Valley Road, there were 5
Lincoln's Sparrows within a 200 ft stretch. Lincoln's specialize in rank
weedy/grassy areas, especially if a little sumpy.
