Over here on the coast in Gardiner I heard my first EVGR yesterday and today
was treated to seeing 2 males in my yard! I have had them here before on their
way through but it seems later this year if memory serves. Amazing birds they
are!

Subject: [Umpqua Birds] Evening Grosbeaks
Hello all,
This morning we had a pair of Evening Grosbeaks at our place.
The male was on the cap rail of our front deck, less than 15 feet from me,
calling to his mate in a nearby tree.
I held very still; and he stayed there for over a minute. Wow! – Up close and
personal.
We moved here 13 years ago; and this is only the second time we’ve had Evening
Grosbeaks.
I know that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”; but to my eyes, male
Evening Grosbeaks are the most beautiful birds we’ve seen since we moved up
here.
