HI Folks,

I have uploaded the two-page flyer, "Seasonal Occurrence of Birds in
Coastal Douglas County, Oregon," to the Umpqua Birds website. You can
download it from there if you like, www.umpquabirds.org. Feedback always
appreciated.

Today, my son Daniel observed an interesting interaction. He saw a raven
flying low over our place with something in its grip. Then, not far from
him, the raven dropped its catch to the ground. Just then, a Red-tailed
Hawk zoomed by. Daniel thought the raven dropped the item because of the
threat of the red-tail. The "item" was a partly eaten adult Northern
Flicker. Who knows if the raven stole the flicker from the Red-tail while
it was resting for a bit, or if the redtail was opportunistically
"stealing" from the raven. I was happy for him to see such an interesting
interaction.

Glad for the "cooler" weather,

Matt Hunter
