Dear TV Freelancer,

1. Thursday 26th May is National Skills Day, and Skillset are throwing their
weight behind this with a whole range of activities taking place across the
country. Take a look at <http://www.skillset.org/nationalskillsday>
www.skillset.org/nationalskillsday to see more about this. We will have a
stand at the BBC National Skills Expo at White City - if you're going along,
come and say hi!

2. If you have between 2 and 4 years of experience in the TV industry and
are aged 22-30, Fast Track, the talent initiative from the MediaGuardian
Edinburgh International Television Festival, could be for you. They are
inviting TV people with ideas, passion and drive to apply. 40 bright sparks
will be offered a forum for discussion, networking and career direction with
some of the most respected programme and policy makers in TV. Successful
applicants receive free accommodation and a complimentary pass to the TV
Festival. MGEITF Fast Track takes place from 24 - 29 August 2005. Apply
online at <http://www.mgeitf.co.uk/fasttrack> www.mgeitf.co.uk/fasttrack.
Deadline for applications is Friday 27th May 2005.

3. At the younger end, if you know anyone aged between 18-21 who has a
passion to work in the television industry, they could be one of the 150
people selected to attend five days of Masterclasses, Workshops, Career
Surgeries and social events at the Edinburgh Television Festival between
25-29th August 2005. Other than travel to and from Edinburgh all expenses
will be covered. Log on to <http://www.tvyp.co.uk> www.tvyp.co.uk to find
out more about this excellent route into TV. (Sorry but the published
deadline for this is 16th May so you will need to act fast - our fault for
not passing this on sooner.)

best wishes
