Hi, Nazanin and all, Nazanin, do you want to rescue Moby to be your dog? How can we all help you? Today (Tuesday, March 12) I have just seen Moby near our house (632 Riddle) about 2:45 pm. He was playing with our neighbor's dog. I brought Moby out a red bowl (I am going to use the same bowl each time I feed him) of dry dog food and placed it on the sidewalk and backed away. Moby picked up the bowl in his mouth and carried it to a side yard and ate the dog food. I can get within about 30 feet of him now. Back more than 25 years ago in this same neighborhood when we rescued a dog (whom we named Wolf) who looked and acted much like Moby, I was inspired by a famous acquaintance of mine, Jane Goodall, who does work with wild chimps in Africa. I took her advice to take time to habituate him to humans. When I'm going to get him food, I do the same little whistle (which hopefully he will start to associate with getting something to eat), I do not look him in the eye, I try to imitate the movements of dogs who are communicating they want to play (I bob my head down and lightly slap my hands on my knees), and when I leave I call him by name and praise him. Moby is a great dog who, I think, will be happy to be rescued and in a good home. He has stopped coming by my house as often as he used to in th evenings and I was worried, but I'm glad to know he's on Riddle often and being fed. I'm still very interested in rescuing him, so if anyone is able to help I would greatly appreciate it. On Sunday, March 10, 2013, Donnelly wrote: Hi, Just an update on Moby.
