community interest:
- THURSDAY JUNE 28th, 7:30pm: Haitian Human Rights Activists

- SATURDAY JUNE 30TH, 10:00am: McMillan/Calhoun Landscaping
Project!

On THURSDAY JUNE 28th at 7:30pm, St. Monica-St. George parish
is
sponsoring an evening with Haitian human rights activists Junior St-Vil
and
Daniel Tillias of Pax Christi Haiti, a nonviolence and peace
organization.
They will be sharing their analysis of the current crises in Haiti,
and
offering opportunities for solidarity between the peoples of the US
and
Haiti. St-Vil, whose wife was kidnapped and held for ransom by an
armed
gang in April, will also discuss the impact that this type of violence
has
on individuals and groups working for social change in Haiti. This
event
will be held at St. Monica-St. George Parish Newman Center, 328 W.
McMillan

On SATURDAY JUNE 30th at 10am, join your neighbors to landscape
one
of the most beautiful grassy knolls in Clifton Heights! Meet at the
west
end of the newly-grassed McMillan/Calhoun strip (east end of the
Clifton
Heights Business District) at 10am. Thanks to CHCURC for sponsoring
and
organizing this event - and bring a shovel (the digging kind) if you
have
one!
