--- University Hights Neighborhood Association - NET Message --------------- Hi, Late Friday night (October 14), after my granddaughter's Halloween theme birthday party, or early Saturday morning two of our eight-feet-tall inflatable Halloween pumpkins (maybe $100 each) were stolen from our front yard on Riddle Road. We have not reported it to the police, but maybe we should. We live on Deckebach and had a recent break-in into our convertible bug while it was parked in the garage. They cut through the top to get into it; the entire top has to be replaced at a cost of $5,000! I'm wondering if anyone else in the neighborhood who has a convertible bug has experienced this... (FYI: I believe they were looking for a CD player, as that does not come standard in this model and if you add it later, you either put it into the console or the trunk, which were both open. There was nothing else in the car.) We have insurance but I'm afraid they're going to raise our rates and am looking for another shop who can do this work; the dealerships themselves do not... interested in getting another quote. Also just wanted to let anyone with a convertible know about this "new" (?) method of breaking in.
