CUF highlights. * The police reported that special attention has been given to vice activity, especially prostitution and drugs in the Fairview/Fairview parks area. There were many complaints about fireworks. If you want your call to receive particular attention, ask for the investigating officer to contact you. Chief Bailey answers all his emails. His email address will be available at the Wed on Porch. * A presentation was made concerning the new streetcar routes. One group wants the uptown route to go up Vine Street; CUF is encouraged to write a letter encouraging study of West Clifton Avenue. The street car in Portland Oregon increased economic development by 2.5 billion dollars in 8 years on a 72 million dollar investment. I found the presentation encouraging. * August 5 is the annual Night Out for the police. This year, College Hill is having a big party. CUF will not have a party, so is encouraging members to go to College Hill. * Some of the trustees attended a meeting on the NEP project with the city manager. More follow-up is necessary. * A public hearing will be held on July 30 concerning a zoning request for front yard parking for a residence at 698 Riddle Road. Also someone wants to vacate (buy?) Cliff Street in Fairview. I'll get more info if you are interested. * Nick Denlinger, Rolf Kuhn, Julie Murray, Rob Neel and Dennis O"Brien were elected or re-elected as trustees. Julie is considering whether to continue. * There will be no meeting in August. A thank you to Linda Ziegler for her wonderful, balanced work as chair of CUF. This was her last meeting.
