Most complex vector graphics games run really slowly on real Amiga 500.
(compared to modern standards)
~10% of CPU usage is normal for A500 games that don't use any tricky
custom chipset effects and host PC is fast enough.
As an addition to this it is possible to increase the speed of the
emulation by adjusting the cycles per instruction parameter. Then you
would be able to effectively have an Amiga500 that ran many times faster
than a 'true' A500. However this can lead to incompatibilities with some
software (one example is the titles of It Came From the Desert, they
need to be 'cycle exact' else the titles finish before the voice-over
sound sample finishes playing). So for some games the 'Approximate 7Mhz
68000' is important.
