For a sign language interpreter to become certified, he or she must take and pass the interpreting certification tests. The requires several years of experience, then sitting for a written test and then for a performance test. There is not, at this time, a procedure for becoming a certified transcriber or speech-to-text provider. *Do not list on your résumé that you are a “certified TypeWell transcriber.” *Instead, use the words “qualified” or “experienced,” or just use “TypeWell transcriber.” What a potential employer needs from you is proof that you have completed the TypeWell Transcribing Course. The way to do that is to sign into your online TypeWell account <http://typewell.com/signin.form> (the same one you used during your TypeWell course work), and scroll to the bottom of the Course History page. There is a place there for you to request TypeWell to send your official Course History to a potential employer. The Course History is similar to a college transcript. It shows that you completed the Course, when you completed it, and what grade you got. Just type in the email address of the person there who has requested confirmation of your TypeWell qualification. TypeWell will automatically mail the info to that person.
