Hi all
Thanks for the great vocal support today. We played a strong side and deserved
better than a 3 2 defeat. I think they know they've been in a proper game and
the boys can be proud of the way they battled.
It's going to be a difficult few months without Joey and from time to time
people are going to have to play out of position, specifically in defence.
Respect to Harry today. They are a strong attacking team and if he hadn't
stepped up I think that team is capable of scoring a lot of goals against you
and after a difficult start I thought we defended well all things considered.
Trying to get the balance of staying competitive and giving everybody a game is
challenging and sometimes I will make mistakes but the boys who are flexible
will ultimately end up with a lot of game time.
It really was a great match to watch and respect to all the boys for their
battling and their commitment.
My only downside is the number of times I have to ask to get the boys
attention. I don't ask for a lot and I understand they are excited but I'm
spending 5 minutes just to get the group together and be quiet. It's got to
stop because frankly I've got better things to do with my life than talk at a
group that can't even give me 4 minutes of their time so I'd appreciate a
reminder for the boys. If they just want to go out and mess about that's fine
but they don't need me as a coach in that instance, anybody can do it.
I'm hoping it's just the first week back and they just need a firm reminder
because I loved the game today and I can't fault them for their attitude in the
game but I'm not prepared to have to shout at kids for 5 minutes every week
just to get their attention.
