We have two upcoming trips to plan: Grand Canyon March 19-22, and a short
backpacking trip the following weekend (March 26-27) for interested Scouts
and families. I'll be out of town March 13 and will miss that meeting, so
it would be nice to do some Grand Canyon planning tomorrow.
At the March 13 meeting we will have Order of the Arrow elections, so
let's do a little prep for that tomorrow as well. We need to provide a list
of eligible Scouts, so please verify whether you meet the following
criteria:
* Registered member of BSA.
* Fifteen nights of Scout camping while registered with a troop within the
two years immediately prior to the election. The 15 nights must include
one, but no more than one, long-term camp consisting of at least five
consecutive nights of overnight camping, approved and under the auspices
and standards of the Boy Scouts of America. Only five nights of the
long-term camp may be credited toward the 15-night camping requirement; the
balance of the camping (10 nights) must be overnight, weekend, or other
short-term camps of, at most, three nights each.
* At the time of their election, hold First Class rank.
* Adults (age 21 or older) who meet the camping requirements may be
selected following nomination to and approval by the lodge adult selection
committee.
Working on skills for April 8-9's Camporee (lashings?) would be another
good thing to do tomorrow.
I was conditioning for the Grand Canyon trip today. Tunnel Trail to La
Cumbre Peak and back = 11 steep miles of fun. Get ready!
