Thanks for letting us know, Kristen! We will miss Zane, but we’ll catch him on
the next campout!

Hi Cindy,
Zane and I have been trying to decide if he would still Camp this weekend. He
is taking confirmation classes for church as well as has a community service
project on Sat for church. We just dont think we can squeeze it all in so he
won't be attending this weekend. This is the first camp out he will miss while
being in the Troop but we just can't make it all happen. He will see you guys
on Monday at the meeting.
Have a great time!

Everyone,
Hi! Tomorrow is our campout, weather report for Yellow Springs for Saturday is
cold:
• High/Low: 30 degree F/23 degree F
• 20% chance of rain
• Windy! West 21 mph
Please tell this information to your Scout so they can DRESS/PACK
APPROPRIATELY. With today’s high being in the 70’s, they will be as tempted as
I am to think they can wing it on the extra clothes, but that wind will make
this a campout they will never forget - if they forget their hat, gloves, and
layers! ☺ lol
See you tomorrow morning!

Subject: Summary of Campout This Weekend - Camp Birch, Sat am - Sun am (Feb
25-26)
Everyone,
Good morning! This weekend is our cabin camping event at Camp Birch! Here are
the details, below.
Jonathon North and Adam Cartwright, our SPL and ASPL respectively, will not be
attending the campout, so Jonathon has been working with the three patrol
leaders that will be attending, so they know what to do in their role. We are
on a good road, mentoring the Scouts in their position of responsibilities.
Having them perform tangible duties in their role is worthwhile and fulfilling.
It is key to keeping the train moving, so that skills can be passed down from
Scout to Scout. If you have one of the younger Scouts that might not have a
position of responsibility right now, please talk with them and encourage them
to observe and learn from those Scouts that are their leaders right now.
We will be working various requirements at this campout, it is only a one-night
campout, but since we are getting an early morning start, that will buy us more
time. Plan is for the senior ranked Scouts to work on skill mastery, and the
younger Scouts will work on rank advancement.
We will need one or two more drivers to transport all the Scouts and their
equipment. We can take some Scouts in the cars of the adults that are camping.
Please anticipate that you might need to help out with transportation if you
have not helped out in the transportation area recently. Thanks!
Please have your Scout read this part:
• Scouts should bring their Scout handbook to help us signoff
requirements in a timely manner. Way easier to do signoff right away!
• Scouts should pack themselves. Prepare for 50 degree weather during
the day, colder at night. The cabin does have a wood-burning stove for heat
• If you do not have a camping checklist, you can search on the
internet – they are all over the place
• A basic checklist would be:
o SCOUT BOOK
o FLASHLIGHT
o RAIN PONCHO
o Cot
o Padded mat, if you have one
o Sleeping bag
o Pillow
o Clothing layers
o Winter attire – coat, GLOVES, hat
o Water-proof footware
o Pocket knife – we can work on knife safety if you do not yet have your
knife card (I confuse the darned name of the Boy Scout card with the Cub Scout
card, so I’m not gonna even try here!)
o Camp chair
o NO TENT NEEDED
Current list of attendees:
Adults:
• Rick Colby
• Dave Franck
• DeWayne Hopping
• Cyndi Colby (during the day)

1. Dylan
2. Zane
