No matter which address you use, or from which service, Jim, you will eventually get spam on any address. Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail have all added strong filters but many spam messages get through regardless. You could try Gmail (I will send an invitation) or even Inbox http://www.inbox.com/features/ (I have yet to get spam there after several months).
To open another Hotmail account is relatively simple. Just go to http://www.msn.com/ and click the Hotmail link.
