Hi Donna! Probably the safest way to handle downloads of files or programs over the Internet is to create a "Downloads" folder, and place any into that folder as you download. You can even create folders within that folder to designate any particular downloads you do regularly (updates, etc.). Then when you have dealt with them "burn" the contents of that folder, every few weeks to a CD especially kept for downloads. If you carefully label the downloads with a title you will recognize, they will be easier to locate if needed in the future. You don't have to accept the name of the download if you feel it is "unclear". For example, it may be labelled "mw975enu.exe" which is perhaps meaningless six months later. However, if you labelled it "Logitech Driver mw975enu.exe" it makes it quite clear just what it was you downloaded. Placing downloads in a special folder saves your Desktop from being cluttered, too. I have wondered for a long time about downloading really small files to your computer. Lots of times it will say that it "can't make a shortcut here do you want it on your desktop instead?" Then when you say "yes" the shortcut appears in the screen that you right-clicked. Sometimes you can drag and drop the shortcut to the Desktop, but other times it will respond "unable to move because the shortcut and destination files are one and the same". I made a file for different downloads under Program Files and designated each one for specific types of programs, and that is where I try to make sure that most of the "alien" programs are downloaded. Am I making a mistake in that the file should be downloaded to the Desktop for ease of selection and use?
