Translation Quality Assurance and Management 28 - 30 July, 2009 Amman-Jordan Deadline for submission of abstracts: 15 June 2009 Representatives of the translation and interpreting sector will gather in Jordan to attend the international conference "Translation Quality Assurance and Management" , 28 - 30 July, 2009. It is being organized by the Jordanian Translators' Association and ASBAT House for Translation and Conferences. London Metropolitan University supports the conference in Amman. The speakers and participants representing business, industry, institutions, and education are coming together to engage in discussion with interpreters and translation service providers. The underlying purpose is to analyse current challenges and developments. The items on the agenda include new job profiles, changing customer requirements, quality management, and new technologies. The conference program also embraces a job exchange and trade exhibition. What are the goals and benefits of the conference? * Promoting the importance and activating the practice of translation in Jordan from various languages into Arabic and vice versa so as to contribute to the development of the translation movement nationally as well as at Arab World level. * Exchanging relevant translation expertise and information, and maintaining close relations between Jordanian translators and on the one hand and others of the like on the other. * Forging links between translation service providers and customers. * Learning about new developments in the profession. * Sharing ideas and experiences. * Knowing the products and services available to translators and interpreters. * Engaging in inspiring discussions with experts on the challenges facing the profession. JICOT invites translation and interpreting experts, product and service providers to contribute to the international conference "Translation Quality Assurance and Management" due to take place in July 2009. Around 300 participants are expected to attend the Conference.
