Hi Enviro Team,
Meeting tomorrow (Friday, after school) should be fun and busy! Newsletter
deadline is also tomorrow, so I have written a short thing re the front farm
– see below if you think anything needs to be changed. I’m not sure if Nude
Food Tuesdays is being mentioned anywhere, but could be worthwhile including
if someone has time?
Great to be back amongst all you great people again!
Ian.

Front Farm Update
You may have noticed the front (south-east) corner of the school gradually
evolving into a small garden/farm over the last year. Thanks to the help of
numerous parents, carers, teachers and students, the raised garden beds have
grown a bounty of beans, potatoes, tomatoes, basil, zucchinis, cucumbers and
buckwheat over the summer holidays. The first garden classes with Aviva in
week two (grade 5/6) have already enjoyed some of the harvest, and classes
will continue to plant and pick from the farm throughout the year.
The most recent addition to the farm has been the installation of a drip
irrigation system, which means the garden beds should continue to grow
productively, even through the hot dry weather. A big thanks to students of
last year’s 3/4 C class with Cecilia Sinclair for getting the irrigation
project started in term 4 and to parent helpers for finishing it off (and
hand-watering the garden beds in the meantime). Thanks also to Bulleen Art
and Garden (BAAG), Bunnings and the Fundraising Committee at last year’s
by-election BBQ, for financial support.
All teachers, parents and carers (new or old) that are interested in helping
with anything garden-related at TPS, we would love you to become involved
with the TPS Enviro Team. Please send an email to tpsenviro@xxxxxxxxx
<mailto:tpsenviro@xxxxxxxxx> and we’ll let you know what is happening!
