Bit of a total legend...! If I'd known what you were up to I would have offered
to help..!
Will check it out when I'm next around the garden
I thought those beds seemed dry in prep area..
Re chook feeder: We had the same experience over the hols that the chook feeder
was fairly consistently messy over our shifts even after cleaning & sweeping. I
think Renee mentioned that perhaps the seed jams the feeder open?

Mel

Well, the irrigation is finally installed! It's currently set to go on for
thirty minutes each morning, one section after the other. If you're out there
in the first few weeks of school, can you check that nowhere has sprung a
leak or come unattached?
The irrigation in the prep area garden had sprung a leak, which was why those
garden beds were so dry, but is now on again.
The chooks seem to be scattering a lot of seed and pellets on the standing
area of their feeder each day, which is causing it to stay open. My guess is
this is because they're hunting for their favourite seeds, so maybe we should
just put pellets in from now on? We (adults only?) could then scatter them a
few handfuls of seed each day for them to scratch around for.

A small gathering at the bot gardens organised by Finley, but I realise now
it didn't go to this list, as Emily was not able to make it. We'll have to
have an Enviro Team picnic there another day!

The hose is working again, fixed by pulling the hose all the way out and
feeding it back in slowly, as it had kinked. However it still leaks at
the join over the blue tub, so will need a new hose-joiner that I can get.
Is there anyone who can do chooks and garden on Friday? We are hoping to
spend the day at Mt Martha and it looks like it will be particularly hot!
See whoever can make it to the botanic gardens soon!
Thanks, Ian.

Hey Mel,
The hose for the prep garden isn't connected to the timer. Was the
switch for that hose in the 'on' position? That's all I can think of.
But those beds were really dry last week too. As far as I could tell
the drip system was working and I gave them a top up but not sure
what's going on. There's not much produce in them anyway - just too
much shade now...
Let me know if the switch doesn't solve the problem ...

Things were pretty dry in prep area so I watered with watering can and
rain water in the tub inside the gate..
Any ideas on why the hose isn't working? I looked at the tap (near the
polyhouse) and all seemed on there?
Any tips welcome... (hope I haven't missed something really obvious..)

Postponing would be great. We'll be laying low today.
Mel - I gave the garden a big drink this morning, but I'm sure it
will be mighty thirsty by tomorrow morning. The key is back in the
tree. I just realised I left a tap key on the front corner tap.
The timer was turned off when I got to school at the start of this
week. I've reset it to auto and set the time to AM. Seemed to be
working through the week.
The chooks are fine - I gave them heaps of fresh food this week.
Their egg shells are fairly solid now.
Stay cool everyone :-)

Hi all,
We’re going to not go to the Bot Gardens today. The forecast of 42
has pushed it over the edge for me :(
Great stuff to everyone who is looking after the TPS garden and
chooks in the hot weather.

Hi all
We are organising a family picnic at the Botanic Gardens,
Melbourne for Friday 19th January at 11am to celebrate the
Play me I'm Yours piano that TPS students decorated at the
end of last term. The piano will be in the Gardens until Feb
4, after which it will return to live at school.
Would love if you can join us - BYO picnic - I have lots of
mats if we need them, and might set up an activity or two for
the kids to do 😊
It would be great to get a rough idea of numbers if possible.
Hope to see you there

Very cool Alicia - nice find :)
Hey while we're talking about little treasures Enviro's might
like to know (or already know) that Darebin is upscaling its
Solar Saver program - which means 2000 households receive
subsidised solar panels - we've registered.
They will prioritise low income families but encourage all to
apply.
