Junior Engineers is the recent recipient of a federal grant to promote
women in STEM and to encourage more female students to undertake coding in
order to set them up for future success in technology and other
tech-related fields.

By way of background, since 2013, Junior Engineers has been delivering
unrivalled programs in digital technologies education to set primary and
high school students up for success in a world where technology touches
every aspect of their lives. As part of our offering, Junior Engineers
provides schools with access to an interactive and engaging, online
platform called CodeMonkey that empowers teachers to seamlessly integrate
coding into their classroom. The federal grant enables Junior Engineers to
heavily subsidise the delivery of coding education via this online
platform.
CodeMonkey is an award-winning, interactive platform that enables students
to learn a real programming language through gamification. The best feature
of the platform is that it empowers teachers to confidently deliver classes
in computer coding, without any prior experience in computer science.
This platform is also aligned to the Digital Technologies Curriculum and
has been approved by the Department of Education as a curriculum linked,
quality assured learning resource.

Additionally, the platform was recently awarded Best Coding & Computational
Thinking Solution at the 2018 SIAA Codie Awards. CodeMonkey beat dozens of
international entrants to take out this award, which attests to the
platform's efficacy in terms of student outcomes and the quality of the
product.

The typical pricing per student to utilise this platform is $26 per
student, per annum however, under the Government grant, we are able to
heavily subside this platform for female students, reducing the investment
to:
- First 100 licenses - *$0* per license;
- 101 - 150 licenses - *$3* per license for any additional license above
100, capped at a maximum of 150 licenses per school altogether. At the full
allocation of 150 licenses, the investment for the school is only $150 ($0
x 100 licenses + $3 x 50 licenses) as opposed to $3,900 under the normal
pricing; and
- Minimum allocation per school is 75 licenses.
We will also need to have students commence the utilisation of the platform
in term 4 of 2018 or at the very latest, term 1 of 2019 but we will be
required to allocate places by mid-August.
