I have this issue with my vic-20 as well and it's been cleaned and there no
obvious damage.

appear on the pads. Than as the pad warms up that donut separating the pin from
the pad preventing a connection.
Us a magnifying glass to see the donut. Add flux and reflow the solder.
Also it may be necessary to replace the colour ram or the VIC chip.

The Vic has started acting up where colours and graphics start to change until
it just stops working. If you let the machine sit for a minute, it goes back to
working fine, and then the decline begins again. Some I'm leaning to this being
a power supply problem. It's a last gen Vic 20, so the power supply looks like
a c64 one. Can I use a c64 power supply with 2+ amps with the Vic?
