Wow! IEEE488 tape drives? Any of those in the storage locker?

;-)

In 1980 PBS ran a very successful series called "Cosmos" which was presented by Carl Sagan.

Currently running on FOX and Global is the 2014 version of "Cosmos" now presented by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The original had much better music - Vangelis!

The May 11 episode covered the life and works of Michael Faraday without whom we wouldn't have things like electric motors, generators and transformers. At about the 18 minute mark Tyson presents a montage of the various things we have today that derive from Faraday's work - as the video progresses we see a familiar sight - an original PET with built in tape drive (there's also an early Mac).

Attached is a screen grab (camera) showing the computers. In the video the PET shows the blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner and you can see evidence of this in the attachment.
