Hi TOMGA Members - Mark Riner, Mike Brady and I decided to give PB-North a try
this evening and I wanted to give our - well really my - opinion to supplement
Dick's.
PBN is an upgrade for us over PBS, for sure, but the greens are only marginally
better than most of the PBS greens - there's no #17 bad although #1 at North
comes close.
The traps are about the same - and Dick is right on about the tees and fairways.
The fringes around the green are in great shape, although they are cut kind of
high and the rough past the fringes is thick - but at least it is uniform.
No one yet has discussed rules and I think it needs to be determined whether we
are keeping our PBS rules in place.
There are enough bare spots, divots and super tight spots on the fairways that
I feel we should keep our roll it in the fairway rule.
Similarly, the traps are not at all uniform and raking and replacing would be
welcome.
Finally, there are some places where pipe was recently laid, including on a
green, and we should treat those areas as ground under repair, although for the
area that is on the green I don't really know what we can do about it.
These are just my opinion, but we need to all play by the same rules on
Saturday. If we are playing it down, so be it, everyone needs to know.
Finally, I like the layout a lot better - it is more fair and just generally
more forgiving. I look forward to playing there and bringing my handicap down
a little.
Best regards,Dave

<!--#yiv8186942149 P {margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;}-->Gentlemen,
We've completed our first match at the North course. The tees were in pretty
good shape. Some of the fairways were in excellent shape, othersover-cut like
the South course. Greens better, but a number with major brown spots - slower
than the South course so easier to putt. Restaurant was open, prices higher
than the South for beer and drinks. My burger and fries were excellent - nice
atmosphere.
Th two man no Scotch was fun and quite close. Mr. Wicks and Mr. Stites had the
low score of 60. Three teams were tied with 61 and match of cards had
Mencner/Proudfoot second, Graham/Wonder third and Tuffli/Gassett third.
Mr. Lutz was closest on #5 with no winners on #11 - $24 winner.
On Friday we have six players for 1 and 1 including Mr. Tuffli. I'll keep the
site open for signups until tomorrow. Come and play.
We have 16 for the monthly on Saturday, team 3bb with pins, skins and 50/50
raffle. Please sign up by Friday.
See you on Friday.
Dick
