Hello TN Bird Conservation Partnership,
The Eastern Loggerhead Shrike Working Group is looking for stakeholders to
participate in the Population and Habitat Viability Assessment (PHVA) process.
For this activity we are focusing on those states where the migrans subspecies
has a demonstrated wintering ground presence (VA, WV, TN, AR), plus OH and NY
because of their interest in reintroduction and habitat stewardship/restoration.
What is a stakeholder for our purposes? Anyone who has an interest in LOSH
recovery, either because they may be impacted by the project (e.g. landholders
such as cattle producers and aggregate companies), or those who can have a
significant impact on the outcome of the project (e.g. government regulators,
conservation NGOs, etc.). The goal is to engage a cross-section of stakeholders
from many sectors in the PHVA process so the outcome will have the a high level
of buy-in across the board.
When representing private landowners, we are looking for an overarching
association or organization that a group of landowners may fall in to, and will
target that organization with the hope that they can disseminate info to their
members (e.g. cattle producers in Ontario may be represented by the Beef
Farmers of Ontario or the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario). However, if
there are landowners who have significant holdings, they could be included as
individuals.
If your organization fits the above qualifications and would be interested in
participating in the PVA process please send me an email by Friday October
30th. I will then include you in the list to further participate in the process.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments, and thank you for your help!
Take care,
David
