It’s been another cold week for moths, except on the 24th and 25th when the
temps were in the low 50’s to upper 40’s F at Sugar Bait (SB) time. The
difference in species make-up and number of individuals was the rain. On
the 24th in the rain, there were 5 species and 259 individuals (222
Variable Sallow Moth); and the 25th with little rain and lower temps,10
species and 44 individuals. The Variable Sallow Moth seems to come out in
numbers with light rain and temps at least in the low 50’s. One tree had 41
Variables, another 30. In all, 10 species, the “new” one being an Acleris
that could be identified to species, Lesser Maple Leafroller Moth (*Acleris
chalybeana*).
