Most of the pics on Bugguide show a darker or plainer looking moth. If I was
just looking there, I'd say it must be a 7687 but the pics on MPG show 2 very
similar looking critters.

I've narrowed this one down to 7686 – Phyllodesma occidentis – Southern Lappet
Moth or 7687 – Phyllodesma americana – Lappet Moth.
Anyone know how to tell the difference?
