May 27, 2015 Sellers Farm State Archaeological Area, Wilson Co. TN

Checked Sellers Farm, a satellite park of Long Hunter SP, this AM with a
couple of State Parks staff. Tennessee Clubtail (Gomphus sandrius) occurs
here along Spring Creek and this is one of the few state-owned properties
we know of where this middle TN endemic dragonfly is found. They, the State
Park folks, are contentious enough to make an effort to manage for it.
We found several, most in the upper meadow where they were sunning, feeding
and mating. These in the meadow were still fresh with more yellow, while
the ones at water had final adult color. Best flight time for them seems to
be late May thru mid June.
