Oct. 20, Maury Co. TN
On a maybe-last good warm day for Odes for this season, I checked a few sites
around the Duck River and found several species still flying. Some down to low
numbers, some in good numbers like Autumn Meadowhawk, and the spreadwings, with
Familiar Bluets at a late-season peak of abundance. Southern and/or Sweetflag
Spreadwing males found common at one pond, but it's a tough group, so I must
leave it short of positive identification. With size difference in some
individuals it's possible both species were present. Photo attached of probable
Southern Sw.
