October 3-7, 2017
On a Fall jaunt in East TN the following Odonates were observed. A quest to
find Zebra Clubtail, Stylurus scudderi, as a flying adult in what should be
good habitat for it, was not successful, but it was a great week to be out! No
complaints. I'll try again next year a little earlier in the season.
Fawn Darner - common to abundant on streams (see photos attached, Abrams Creek,
Cades Cove, Siever Co.)
(probable Ocellated Darners also flying on Tellico River, but only Fawn darners
documented this trip)
Shadow Darner - some on streams, but abundant in the marsh in Shady Valley,
Johnson Co. and common on ponds in Carter Co.
Autumn Meadowhawk ++
