I think every Banded Hairstreak in the County hatched out today.  Their wings were still dark and wrinkly wet, and what an amazing array of markings

This one almost missed out on the orange paint completely, a very strangely marked Banded.

The female Zabulons are just extraordinary.  This one was very friendly

A very tapered abdomen, and notice the clean white marking on the leading edge of the hindwing.  The female Hobomok looks very similar, but lacks this white mark.

Here's the Dorsal view.  I like the little black fur tufts up at the shoulder.

The very last of the first hatch of Pine Elfins are quickly deteriorating.  Still very pretty though.

This little Keebler Elfin is making Blackberries.  Fascinating to watch the blooms turn in to berries.

This 'Northern' Oak Hairstreak looks like he has been out a while.  Looking a little shabby.  The one Allan Trently photographed in Hardin County looked very fresh and clean back on May the 7th.

This one loves to come out and feed each year on this very fragrant clump of Virginia Sweetspire shrubs.
Notice the deep cut W on the Hindwing, and the small orange crescent over the blue patch on the Hindwing as well.  The overall color is quite brown.

Here's a 100 year old Juvenals Duskywing with white hair.

And a very tattered Silvery Checkerspot after the rains.
