Greetings,
On Wednesday, September 14 I had a great day with butterflies on our
property. In addition to all the "regulars" I had a Gemmed Satyr, a Dusted
Skipper, some Grey Hairstreaks, a Monarch (FOY), male and female Dianas
together (female was bright and looked fresh, male not so much) and an
American Copper which was a lifer for me. I knew I had never seen one and
could not remember seeing them listed in other reports so I checked with
Tommie Rogers who is very knowledgeable and it seems they are not common at
all in our area. Yesterday I went back to the same area to hope to get a
photo, but could not find it. I plan to try again today, probably with
chances "slim to none", but I am sure of the identity because when I saw
it, it stayed in place and allowed me good looks to check identity.
Best to all.
