Hi Betty,
I'm not surprised that you have Black Swallowtail cats on your Aegopodium since 
it is in the carrot family.  I'm sure it is probably way down on its list of 
prefered hosts, but acceptable in a pinch.  It's funny, there are lots of 
native carrot family member plants, but if fennel, parsley, or dill available, 
they always seem to go for them, even though they aren't native.  Maybe they're 
like people and like the way they taste better!

Have you ever seen Eastern Black Swallowtail caterpillars eating Aegopodium?  
Guess they are desperate as someone ate all the fennel and parsley.  I was 
pleasantly surprised to find about a dozen destroying my shade beauty.
