While working at Dry Branch State Natural Area today, April 16, 2009, in Lewis County I saw the following butterflies: 1. Silver-spotted skipper- FOY for Lewis Co. 2. Sleepy duskywing- FOY for Lewis Co. and photos attached 3. Juvenal's/Horaces duskywing- probably both; I have a photo from above, not attached 4. Cobweb skipper- FOY and Lewis Co. record; photos attached 5. Pepper and salt skipper 6. Pipevine swallowtail 7. Zebra swallowtail- would be a county record but no photo 8. Eastern tiger swallowtail 9. Falcate orangetip- would be a county record but no photo 10. Red-banded hairstreak- FOY for Lewis Co.; County record but no photo; abundant 11. Monarch- FOY for Lewis Co.; county record but no photo 12. Pearl Crescent- FOY for Lewis Co. 13. Goatweed leafwing- FOY for Lewis Co.; county record but no photo 14. Gemmed satyr- FOY for Lewis Co. Also saw a black racer and a common green darner. Prairie warblers are back.
