[TN-Butterflies] Carroll Cabin Barrens, Decatur Co. Butterflies

While at Carroll Cabin Barrens State Natural Area, Decatur County today, April 
15, 2009 I saw the following butterflies:

 

1. Silver-spotted skipper- FOY for Decatur Co.

2. Sleepy (dreamy?) duskywing

3. Juvenal's/Horace's duskywing

4. Cobweb skipper- common along at least one barrens

5. Pepper and Salt skipper- FOY for Decatur Co.

6. Pipevine swallowtail

7. Zebra swallowtail

8. Henry's elfin- saw only one

9. Red-banded hairstreak- FOY for Decatur Co.

10. Eastern tailed blue- FOY for Decatur Co.

11. Monarch

12. Pearl crescent

13. Mourning cloak

14. Gemmed satyr- FOY for Decatur Co.

 

Also saw two dragonflies- one was most likely a Springtime Darner (Basiaeschna 
janata)- photo taken.  The other was unidentified.

One Summer Tanager heard.
