[TN-Butterflies] Butterflies at Carroll Cabin Barrens- Swarthy Skipper

While working at Carroll Cabin Barrens State Natural Area, Decatur County today 
(July 9, 2009), I saw the following butterflies:

 

1. northern cloudywing- 1

2. Swarthy skipper- 1 nectaring on Lobelia spicata; FOY and Decatur County 
record; photo attached

3. clouded skipper- 1; FOY for Decatur Co.

4. unidentified dark swallowtail- 2

5. Zebra swallowtail- 1

6. eastern tailed blue- 6

7. great spangled fritillary- 1

8. pearl crescent- 1

9. little wood satyr- 3

10. Common wood nymph- 1; FOY for Decatur Co.

 

at least 30 species of plants in bloom.
